  I bought the new convertable a couple of weeks ago and I am in love!! The style is wonderful and since my last auto was a Xterra SUV my gas bill is wonderful now!!!!!! It is fun to drive, everyone stops to ask questions about it and being at the beach I am having a blast with the top down... 37 and a convertable (mid-life crisis??)

  Pros: My 2004 still turns heads on occassion, excellent interior, big trunk, good road manners, average 33 Mpg on the highway with conservative driving. Have had a left drift problem (spring seat displaced, dealer fixed) and replaced a tie rod. The original Bridgestone tires were trash, only lasted 25,000 miles. We have used our Solara very hard, excellently engineered and easy to live with. Not a sports car, but a sporty car.

  Trunk Noise - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

  This car has been reliable so far and I wouldnt hesitate to go cross country anytime. Gas mileage stays on 30 mostly city driving. The passenger window came loose from the guide bracket and I had a trunk noise looked at at each 5K mile service. Finally after talking to the service manager personally the problem was found. The noise sounded like someone beating on an empty 50 gallon drum in the trunk when running over rough surfaces or stones. I think Toyota has a fix for this of replacing the rear shocks. The problem ended up being two rods forming an X inside the trunk and just under the rear window a piece of foam between the two rods fixed the problem. Rear seat long trips are a nightmare

  Great car. This is our first Toyota and wont be the last. I have always bought GM. But after having this car I will be getting more. The maintenance record on the Toyotas seem to be much better than on the GM line. The interior styles are also very nice looking on your cars. We are very satisfied with the new Solara.

  Solara convertible shakiy and shudders - 2004 Toyota Camry Solara

  Review by Cleveland Plain Dealer auto editor says the car is "less than mediocre" because the car shudders and shakes over the slightest road bumps as does the steering wheel. Poor rear visibility with top up due to large non- adjustable rear seat head rests and blind spot from side of top. Would like auto lock and unlock latches for top as in BMW 3 series. Would like automatic boot for top as in Audi Cabriolet even if it would cost some more. Would like option of body side moldings as on 2003 model. Seat belts dont move easily when tethered in belt hoder which also unlatches.

  The car has been to the shop 23 times in the last 4 years. There was a short in the electrical system in the first month that Toyota didnt find that caused many other problems. Worst Dealer ever, worst car ever. The car understeers heavily, too little grip for fun handling, I average 23 mpg. I bought this because I thought the Passat was unreliable. I will be trading this piece of crap in for a Saab this week. VW and Toyota need to be taught what customer service is.

  after 5 accords and 3 cadillac eldorados and sevilles its fun to drive again.... this is the best $30,0000 convertible on the road... the only problem is the poor design of the cover for the top when it is open.... the cover has blown off 3 times so far while driving so i had to take a piece of wire to wire it on so it doesnt come off when driving.... but its a greatttttttt car and the most fun car to drive (besides my cadillace allante convertible) i have ever driven.... all i can say is i bet the guys that bought a $80,000 lexus 4 seat convertible and then see this same design car for $30,000 are pissed... lol.. i would be !!!

  I just bought my Toyota Solara on Saturday and I have to say this is the best decision I have ever made. Been getting plenty of compliments about my little red sports car ;) Awesome car, Im glad the dealership still had this one
